RESEARCH COMPONENT

Although research has been an integral part of the SADC REEP, as a cross-cutting activity across the programme's activities, its significant role in informing the practice led to the decision that it becomes a stand alone component. This section highlights some of the key research activities carried out in recent years. They include:

• Environmental education policy audit
• Positioning southern Africa environmental education in a changing context
• Futures Research
• SADC consultations on the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development
• Research into education in the context of environmental degradation, persistent poverty and health risks (particularly HIV/AIDS and malaria)
