| This
programme provides an opportunity for EE practitioners to spend an average
of 10 days working with others on the development/adaptation of learning
support materials, curricula and programmes, as well as discussing EE
theories and doing practical work. It brings all four areas of networking,
materials, training and policy together giving environmental educators
a chance to work with people from throughout the region to develop skills/materials
to support our work.
- Four-day environmental educators course
- Six-days of individual work on materials/curricula/ programmes
The four-day environmental educators' course focuses on activities and
materials that support fieldwork. All resources and activities are adaptable
to local conditions. This is a hands-on course requiring a high level
of involvement from all participants. Brief lectures, extensive fieldwork,
group discussions and small projects ensure an enriching experience.
The second part of the programme involves individual work on projects
of participants' choice. There will be discussions around the ideas behind
curriculum /project/ programme/resource development to help participants
take a more critical stance as they develop their projects. Individual
attention and advice is available throughout the programme. Participants
will have 24-hour access to computers with Internet connection.

Special
Attachment Programme
A
Special Attachment Programme is a similar training course to the Attachment
Programme but has more specific objectives and expected outcomes especially
relevant to a particular group of participants. It is often developed
to respond to the needs of an organisation or governmental institution,
or it has a particular topic/focus. Examples of Special Attachment Programmes
include:
- an environmental education course for EE practitioners linked to
a particular conference or course (e.g. EEASA, Gold Fields Course) where
participants have an opportunity to network, establish relationships
with people other than fellow attachments and attend workshop/conference
sessions;
- a programme for EE practitioners who want to develop further a particular
resource, programme or curriculum started at home. This Attachment Programme
offers freedom from the distractions of their offices as well as access
to equipment, literature and other learning support materials;
- a training programme for the development or adaptation of existing
resources or curricula in Portuguese with a focus on a particular issue
or issues;
- an Attachment Programme to facilitate the development of a course
or programme.
